Air Jamaica

Air Jamaica was the national airline of Jamaica, founded in 1968 and operating scheduled passenger services between Jamaica and destinations in North America, the Caribbean, and Europe. The airline was jointly owned by the Jamaican government and private investors at various points during its history, and it became a symbol of Jamaican culture and hospitality. The airline faced persistent financial difficulties throughout its existence, requiring repeated government bailouts over the decades. Despite its cultural significance, mounting losses made continued independent operation untenable, and Caribbean Airlines acquired Air Jamaica's operations in 2011, absorbing its routes and effectively ending the brand as an independent carrier. At its peak, Air Jamaica operated flights from its main hub at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, as well as Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, serving cities such as New York, Miami, Toronto, Atlanta, and London.
