Dobrolet was a Russian low-cost airline established as a subsidiary of Aeroflot, designed to provide affordable domestic air travel across Russia. It launched operations in June 2014, initially focusing on routes from Moscow to Simferopol in Crimea. The airline was forced to suspend operations in August 2014 after European aircraft lessors terminated their leasing contracts due to EU sanctions imposed over Russia's annexation of Crimea. Unable to legally operate its Boeing 737 aircraft under these conditions, Dobrolet ceased flying after just a few weeks of commercial service. Following the suspension of Dobrolet, Aeroflot subsequently launched a replacement low-cost carrier called Pobeda Airlines in December 2014, which successfully continued operations as Russia's primary budget carrier.
