Air Vistara was a full-service Indian airline established as a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, with Tata Sons holding a 51% stake and Singapore Airlines holding 49%. It operated as India's first and only multi-cabin international airline in the private sector, offering Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes.
The airline launched commercial operations in January 2015 and quickly built a reputation for premium service, in-flight hospitality, and an expanding domestic and international route network. It became known for consistently high customer satisfaction ratings in the Indian aviation market.
In November 2024, Air Vistara merged with Air India, also a Tata Group carrier, as part of a consolidation strategy. Following the merger, the Vistara brand was retired and its operations were fully integrated into Air India, with Singapore Airlines receiving a stake in the enlarged Air India entity.
Hubs & network
Air Vistara's primary hubs were Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
Fleet
Vistara operated a fleet primarily consisting of Airbus A320 family aircraft (A320neo, A321neo) for domestic routes and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners for international long-haul services.
