LAN Airlines, officially known as Línea Aérea Nacional de Chile, is Chile's flag carrier and one of Latin America's largest and most recognized airlines. Founded in 1929, it has grown from a domestic Chilean carrier into a major international airline serving destinations across the Americas, Europe, and Oceania.
In 2012, LAN Airlines merged with Brazil's TAM Airlines to form LATAM Airlines Group, one of the largest airline groups in the world by passenger volume. The combined entity rebranded its operations under the LATAM brand, though LAN continued to operate under its legacy identity during the transition period.
Prior to the LATAM merger, LAN was a member of the oneworld airline alliance and was widely praised for its service quality and operational reliability in South America. Its cargo division, LAN Cargo, was also a significant player in Latin American air freight.

LAN Airlines' primary hub is Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago, Chile.
