Ancient Maritime Silk Road city where East meets West
Quanzhou, a port city in Fujian Province, was once the greatest trading hub in the medieval world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2021. Its streets reveal centuries of cultural fusion through mosques, temples, churches, and clan halls standing side by side.
Despite its rich history, Quanzhou remains largely undiscovered by international tourists, offering an authentic Chinese city experience without the crowds. The old city core rewards slow walkers with stone-paved lanes, centuries-old architecture, and a genuinely local atmosphere.
Modern Quanzhou is also the global capital of sportswear manufacturing, home to brands like Anta and Peak, making it a fascinating blend of ancient heritage and contemporary industry.
