The Gourmet Capital of the Caribbean on a Quiet Lagoon Shore
Grand Case is a small seaside village on the French side of Saint Martin, widely celebrated as one of the finest dining destinations in the entire Caribbean. Its main street, Boulevard de Grand Case, runs parallel to a calm turquoise bay and is lined shoulder-to-shoulder with acclaimed restaurants ranging from elegant French bistros to casual beachside grills.
Despite its culinary fame, Grand Case retains a laid-back, unhurried character. The beach is peaceful, the streets are walkable, and the atmosphere is far more intimate than the busier resort zones to the south. It is a place built for lingering over a long meal and watching the sun dip below the water.
The village also offers easy access to Creole Rock, a snorkeling spot just offshore, and sits within a short drive of the island's other attractions on both the French and Dutch sides.

Getting around: There is no rail service on Saint Martin. Public minibuses connect Grand Case to Marigot and other French-side towns cheaply and frequently during daytime hours. Taxis are readily available but expensive; agree on a fare before boarding. Rental cars and scooters are the most practical option for exploring beyond the village, as rideshare apps are not widely used on the island.
Best time: December through April offers the driest, sunniest weather and the most comfortable temperatures for visiting Grand Case.
Local food: Try fresh grilled lobster and mahi-mahi at the famous lolos, conch fricassee, accras de morue salt-cod fritters, and French-Creole fusion tasting menus at the upscale boulevard restaurants.
