In 2015, RAF Leuchars was transferred to the British Army and redesignated Leuchars Station, becoming a major Army garrison. The airfield remains operational in a limited military capacity, though its role as a frontline fast-jet base has ended. The site retains historical significance as one of Scotland's longest-serving military airfields, with aviation activity dating back to the First World War era.
