Situated at an elevation of approximately 3,449 feet above sea level, the airport occupies a large site in the high Mojave Desert and serves primarily general aviation, charter, and cargo operations.
The airport gained significant historical recognition as a major World War II training base known as Kingman Army Air Field, where thousands of aerial gunners were trained.
