TravelerPulse profile

Gateway to Thailand's western border with Myanmar.

Location
Mae Sot, Thailand
Mae Sot Airport (IATA: MAQ, ICAO: VTPM) is a small regional airport serving Mae Sot, a town in Tak Province in northwestern Thailand, situated close to the Myanmar border along the Moei River. It is operated by Airports of Thailand (AOT) and handles limited domestic traffic connecting the region to Bangkok. The airport plays an important role for humanitarian and aid organizations operating in the border region, as Mae Sot serves as a significant hub for NGOs and refugee assistance efforts. Its remote location makes air travel an important link to the rest of Thailand. Scheduled commercial services have historically been intermittent, with routes subject to changes in demand and airline operating decisions. The airport's runway and facilities are modest, catering primarily to small to medium regional aircraft.
Terminals
The airport has a single small terminal building suitable for low-volume regional passenger operations.
Getting to & from
Ground transport from the airport to Mae Sot town center is primarily by taxi or songthaew (shared pickup truck), as no formal public bus service operates on the route.
Airlines here
Nok Air has operated scheduled service between Mae Sot and Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport, though service availability can vary seasonally.
