Chengdu Tianfu International Airport is a major new hub located in Jianyang, Sichuan Province, approximately 51 kilometers southeast of central Chengdu. It was constructed to complement and eventually partially replace the older Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, providing the Chengdu metropolitan area with dual international airport capacity.
The airport opened in June 2021 and is one of the largest airports in China by planned capacity, designed to handle tens of millions of passengers annually. Its development reflects Chengdu's ambition to become a major aviation hub for southwestern China and international long-haul routes.
Tianfu International Airport serves as a hub for Air China's subsidiary Sichuan Airlines and other major Chinese carriers, offering both domestic and international connections. Its modern facilities and large footprint position it as a key node in China's rapidly expanding aviation network.
Terminals
The airport opened with two passenger terminals, T1 and T2, designed to support high-volume domestic and international traffic with a combined planned capacity of over 60 million passengers per year.

The airport is connected to central Chengdu via dedicated airport express rail and highway links, including the Tianfu Airport Express metro line.
