Edmonton International Airport

Edmonton International Airport (YEG) is the largest airport in Alberta by land area and serves as the primary aviation hub for Edmonton, Canada's northernmost major city. Located approximately 30 kilometres south of downtown Edmonton near Leduc, it handles millions of passengers annually and connects the region to destinations across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and select international routes. The airport plays a critical role in supporting Alberta's energy sector, facilitating travel for workers and executives connected to the oil sands industry in northern Alberta. It has undergone significant expansions over the decades, including a major terminal redevelopment completed in 2012 that modernized facilities and increased capacity. YEG is operated by Edmonton Airports, a not-for-profit organization, and serves as a cargo hub as well as a passenger facility. Its large land area provides room for continued expansion and development as the region grows.
