🛋️ Lounges

Every way into a lounge — status, cards, day passes — and what you get.

Lounges are no longer only for elites: most can be accessed with the right card, membership or a day pass. Our airport profiles list lounges per terminal; this guide covers how access works.

The five doors into a lounge

1) Premium cabin tickets. 2) Airline/alliance status. 3) Lounge-network memberships (e.g., bank-card linked programs). 4) Premium credit cards with lounge benefits. 5) Paid day passes, bookable online or at the door. Many travelers already hold access through a credit card without knowing it.

What's actually inside

Standard: seating, Wi-Fi, snacks, drinks, screens with flight info. Better lounges add hot food, showers, quiet rooms and tarmac views. Flagship first-class lounges add dining and spa services. Expectations should scale with the lounge tier — a network lounge is a calm workspace, not a luxury experience.

Lounge etiquette and limits

Most lounges meter stays (commonly 2-4 hours), restrict guests, and enforce dress and phone-call norms. Capacity limits mean entry can be refused at peak times even with valid access — arrive with a plan B.

Is a day pass worth it?

On a 4+ hour layover, a day pass often beats terminal food-court prices once food, drinks, Wi-Fi and a comfortable seat are added up — especially overnight or during disruptions when terminals overflow.

Quick tips

  • Check which specific terminal your lounge is in — access does not cross security zones.
  • Arrivals lounges (showers after red-eyes) exist at major hubs and are chronically underused.
  • During mass disruptions, lounge agents often rebook faster than gate queues.
  • Guest policies differ per entry method; verify before bringing family.
  • Some lounges sell cheaper online passes than walk-up rates.
