Air Philippines

Air Philippines was a low-cost carrier based in the Philippines that operated domestic routes connecting Manila with key provincial cities and tourist destinations across the archipelago. Founded in 1995 and commencing operations in 1996, the airline positioned itself as a budget alternative to the dominant flag carrier Philippine Airlines. The airline operated under the IATA code 2P and ICAO code GAP, with the radio callsign ORIENT PACIFIC. It was majority-owned by Lucio Tan, who also controlled Philippine Airlines, making it a sister carrier within the same ownership group. Air Philippines ceased independent operations in 2013 when it was merged into PAL Express (formerly Air Philippines Corporation rebranded), consolidating operations under the Philippine Airlines group umbrella. Its routes and some assets were absorbed into the restructured regional subsidiary.
