Low-cost flying across Australia and beyond.

Founded
2007
Headquarters
Melbourne, Australia
Tiger Airways Australia was a low-cost carrier that operated domestic flights within Australia, offering budget-friendly air travel to leisure and price-conscious passengers. It was established as a subsidiary of Singapore-based Tiger Airways Holdings and began Australian operations in 2007. The airline faced significant regulatory scrutiny, including a suspension of operations by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) in 2011 due to safety concerns, which resulted in a temporary grounding of its fleet. It resumed services after addressing the regulator's requirements. In 2013, Virgin Australia acquired a majority stake in Tiger Airways Australia, and the airline was subsequently rebranded as Tigerair Australia. It continued operations under that brand until it was ultimately shut down in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with Virgin Australia entering administration.
Hubs & network
