Frankfurt Main Airport (FRA/EDDF) is the busiest airport in Germany and one of the largest in Europe by passenger traffic, handling over 60 million passengers annually in pre-pandemic years. It serves as the primary hub for Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners, connecting Frankfurt to destinations across the globe. The airport is operated by Fraport AG and is located approximately 12 kilometres southwest of Frankfurt city centre. It features two passenger terminal complexes, extensive cargo facilities, and four runways, making it one of the most operationally complex airports in the world. Frankfurt Airport also functions as a major cargo hub, consistently ranking among the top freight airports in Europe. Its integrated rail and road connections make it a critical node in Germany's and Europe's transportation network.

The airport has two main terminal complexes: Terminal 1 (with three concourses, A, B, and C) and Terminal 2, connected by an automated people mover called the SkyLine.

Getting to & from

The airport has its own railway station (Fernbahnhof) served by ICE high-speed trains and regional services, plus S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 providing frequent connections to Frankfurt city centre in approximately 15 minutes.
